Emergency Patch For Digital Ocean API Changes: WPCloudDeploy 3.0.3

Some days it just doesn’t pay to get out of bed. Digital Ocean changed their API without any warning and broke our ability to create new servers.

They made what they thought was a simple change – adding or changing the location of the PRIVATE IP address to the array of IPs that they return in response to certain api requests.

That tiny little change meant that we were now picking up the private IP address on new servers instead of the public ip address. And this in turn meant that we would attempt to log in via the private IP address.

That, of course, could not work.

WPCD Version 3.0.3 includes the fix that addresses this issue.

With this fix, we have also hardened the way we check for the IP address – only using ones that are of type “public”. (This check was not necessary in the prior versions of the DO API.)

You can download Version 3.0.3 from your account area on our site. We will be updating the Version 4.0.0 release candidate with this fix as well.
