What’s New In Our Providers – Fall 2022 Edition

In preparation for the release of WPCD 5.0, we have made a number of updates to all our providers.

Please note: All providers now require WPCD 5.0 and will not work with earlier versions. Do not upgrade them unless you have already upgraded WPCD core. Please see the WPCD 5.0 upgrade notes for more information and the correct steps for updating to this major new version.

AWS EC2

  • New: Added support for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
  • New: Added support for tags.
  • New: Added support for custom AMI images.
  • Tweak: Added NAME ‘tag’ to instances.
  • Fix: Include the AWS Exception object and handle them.

AWS Lightsail

  • New: Add foundational support for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS – will only be supported when AWS actually adds the image for Lightsail though. So far it has not done so.
  • New: Add support for TAGS.
  • Tweak: Remove NANO option since that only has 0.5 GB memory which is not enough for a WPCD server.

Alibaba

  • New: Add support for ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
  • Tweak: Add support for base provider function.
  • Tweak: Show region description for known regions.
  • Fix: Add better default handling to the get_image_id function when the initial_os array attribute isn’t set.
  • Fix: Latest api version required the use of json_encode in certain functions.
  • Dev: Update Alibaba api version to 1.8.1449.
  • Dev: Update api vendor dependencies.

Azure

  • New: Add support for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
  • Tweak: Add support for base provider function.

Exoscale

  • New: Add support for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
  • Tweak: Request and return an IPv6 address.
  • Tweak: Add support for base provider function.

Google

  • New: Add support for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
  • New: Add support for new wpcd 5.0 ancestor functions get_size_description and get_region_description.

Hetzner

  • New: Add support for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
  • New: Add support for the WPCD 5.x TEST CONNECTION button.
  • New: Add support for the WPCD 5.x CREATE SSH KEY-PAIR button.
  • Dev: Upgrade Hetzner API version and vendor dependencies.

Linode

  • New: Add support for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
  • New: Add support for the WPCD 5.x TEST CONNECTION button.
  • New: Add support for the WPCD 5.x CREATE SSH KEY-PAIR button.

UpCloud

  • New: Add support for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
  • New: Add support for the WPCD 5.x TEST CONNECTION button.
  • New: Add support for the WPCD 5.x CREATE SSH KEY-PAIR button.
  • Tweak: Add initialization calls for base_provider.

Vultr

  • New: Add support for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
  • New: Add support for the WPCD 5.x TEST CONNECTION button for VMs and Baremetal using the V2 api.
  • New: Add support for the WPCD 5.x CREATE SSH KEY-PAIR button for VMs and Baremetal using the V2 api.

Specialty Providers

Our Proxmox and OpenStack providers have been updated with many of the changes outlined above as well.

  • Requires WPCD 5.0 or later.
