2023 WPCloudDeploy Product Recap

It’s that time of the year again where we look back and try to figure out if we spent our time productively.

I think we did.

This year we focused a lot on improving our SaaS builder features – trying to make it easier to deploy and manage larger SaaSes on WordPress.

To that end, we introduced:

  • MULTITENNACY
  • GIT INTEGRATION
  • PRODUCT and SITE PACKAGES
  • UPDATE PACKAGES

We think at this point that WPCD is likely the most under-rated WordPress SaaS builder out there.

We get it though – everyone likes new and shiny and WPCD builds on WordPress (which does not do new and shiny very well).

But under the hood there are a lot of WPCD SaaS-Builder features that other companies simply cannot easily match or offer.

A Different Release Cadence

In prior years, there was usually a steady release cadence where a new release occurred every 1 – 2 months. In 2023 this changed – we did a major release in January with multi-tenant support. But after that the next major release didn’t occur until August.

Instead, we spent a lot of time fine-tuning the 5.3 release.

Other Than SaaS

If you’re not building a SaaS, you’re probably wondering what we did in 2023 that might be useful to you.

There were 4 major releases in 20203 – v5.3 (with 8 related minor releases – v5.3.1 – v5.3.8 ), v5.4, v5.5 and v5.6.

Each release improved quite a number of non-saas-related things, deprecated some features and added many new features not related to building and managing a WordPress SaaS.

For example, we added support for PHP 8.2 for your customer sites, removed and deprecated some server-based and site-based insecure settings, and made a ton of other minor improvements.
