PHPMyAdmin – Database Operations

You have the option to install the PHPMyAdmin tool which will give you direct access to the database for a site.  We strongly recommend that you activate the tool, do what you need to do, and then deactivate it again.

Activate PHPMyAdmin

  • Go to WPCloudDeploy → Applications
  • Click on the site for which this action will apply
  • Click on the DATABASE tab
  • Click the Install PHPMyAdmin button
  • Click the OK option on the confirmation popup

A popup will appear that will offer periodic feedback as the process progresses.  When the process is complete you will get a popup confirmation message and the black ‘terminal” window will show the actions that were taken while attempting to activate the tool.

Launch PHPMyAdmin

  • Install PHPMyAdmin as described in the Activate PHPMyAdmin section above
  • Go to WPCloudDeploy → Applications
  • Click on the site for which this action will apply
  • Click on the DATABASE tab
  • Make a note of the user id and password shown
  • Click the Launch PHPMyAdmin button – the tool will open in a new browser tab
  • Use the user id and password that is shown on the application’s Database tab to log in

Remove PHPMyAdmin

When you’re finished using PHPMyAdmin, we recommend that you remove it until you need it again.

  • Go to WPCloudDeploy → Applications
  • Click on the site for which this action will apply
  • Click on the DATABASE tab
  • Click the Remove PHPMyAdmin button
  • Click the OK option on the confirmation popup

Notes

PHPMyAdmin will be blocked by the 6G and 7G Firewalls:

  • If the 6G firewall is turned on you should turn off the “QUERY STRING” rules section of the firewall before launching it.  After you are finished you can turn that section of the rules back on.
  • If the 7G firewall is turned on you should turn off both the “QUERY STRING” and “REQUEST STRING” rules section of the firewall before launching it.  After you are finished you can turn that section of the rules back on.
